Feature Seller- LemonDropTree

Today's Featured Seller is Jasmin from TheLemonDropTree !

Jasmin's shop is full of cute and whimsical scrapbooking supplies that are sure to appeal to any crafter out there!

The Frosted Button:
When did you become interested in your craft?

Jasmin:
I first became interested in my craft, which is scrapbooking, around eight years ago when my daughter was born. I wanted to preserve all the memories in a creative way and had "accidentally" come across this wonderful hobby that happened to fit my needs. What was so neat about scrapbooking was it was not just about arranging pictures in a photo album..... if I wanted that, I'd go to Target and buy myself an album saving myself a whole lot of money on scrapbooking supplies!!!! It was about arranging them in a creative way, decorating them with pretty embellishments fitting the theme of the page and journaling the specific thoughts, sayings, feelings of that particular moment. It was telling a story all over again after it happened!

Another thing I liked about my new found craft was it provided "me time". For all the mommies out there you will understand how important this is! It allows me NOT to "strangle" my loving husband or commit my children to an insane asylum...lol!!!! Mind you my "me time" is VERY LITTLE and if you blink it might be done with....but I manage!!!

The Frosted Button:
How would you describe your shop/ products?

Jasmin:
I would describe my shop and it's products in a single word as "whimsical!" I like to do things that have a cutsie edge to them, almost a wee bit childlike. I like to view my work through a child's eyes....specifically a girl. I like to put in a "girly" feeling to what I create. Even my shop theme (ie. the banner, packaging etc.) incorporates that feeling. Most women buy on an impulse and that impulse has to do with packaging so I try to keep that in my mind when I design my products and when I set up my shop.

The Frosted Button:
What inspires your craft?

Jasmin:
What inspires my craft is what I see on the internet. I also buy alot of scrapbooking magazines (shhh, don't tell my husband!) and there are ideas that jump out at me from there. Of course I don't do the EXACT same thing I see in the magazines because I like to put my own touch, my own ideas on them and make them truly mine. Some of my ideas have popped into my mind from just what I see around me. Take for example I was making cupcakes with my daughter one day and as I was adding sprinkles to them I thought "hey, these would look great on my chipboard buttons if I make cupcake themed buttons!" I tried those and well, the sprinkles melted under the epoxy on my buttons...lol! (I didn't claim EVERYTHING I do is great you know?!). However I still plan on making those when I find the solution for the problem!
The Frosted Button:
What is you favorite thing to make?

Jasmin:
My favorite thing to make is my Chipboard Epoxy Button Embellishments of course!!!! I love HOW SHINY they look, not to mention vibrant and bright! I usually try to find colors to put in a set together so it really catches the eye! My favorite ones have to be the "Summer Fruits" collection. It is my best seller and can be seen in the "sold" section of my shop, I think it has to do with the bright vivid color combination....bright red, tangerine orange, and sunshine yellow! I decorate those with doodled white scrolls which gives them a classy finish.

The Frosted Button:
Is there anything else you would like to tell my readers about yourself or your craft?

Jasmin:
Yes, recently I have dwelved into making handmade polymer clay buttons. I just wanted to warn everyone this looks easier than it really is!!!! No one tells you how gross your hands will feel after...lol! So if anyone out there knows a good hand lotion, I'm all ears! Seriously though, I love making polymer clay buttons for another reason, I can add a dimensional effect to it that I can't with my chipboard buttons. So far I have only listed a few sets and will be listing more in my shop in the days to come. I like having a theme to my polyclay buttons sets ie. rainbows, speech bubbles, tea time etc. I made these with scrapbooking in mind too. However they are multi use so it can be used for knitting, crochet, paper crafts, embellishments etc.

One of the other things I like to do is blog myself! I usually blog about anything that is craft related. My one criteria is that the pictures and my blog be very bright and vivid! I like color and images to "pop" so I usually make sure my blog reflects that. I usually post about diy craft tutorials, printables, and freebies. You can find my blog at thelemondropdroptree.blogspot.com

Aren't those buttons just the cutest thing?!? Please make sure to stop by Jasmin's Etsy shop and say "hello!"

Smoothies

Summer is almost over, but there are still a lot of fresh fruits out there just begging to be made into a delicious and healthful smoothie! During the summertime I usually make at least two smoothies a week, either for breakfast or a light lunch. Smoothies can be made very inexpensively at home and are so much healthier than the sometimes sugary varieties you can buy.
You can start with either fresh or frozen ( or a mixture of both) fruit and little bit of natural sweetening ( more on that later). That's it! If you use frozen fruit you will not even need to pull out the ice cubes, since frozen fruit works as a great substitute and won't water down your fruit.
Below I've included some recipes for some delicious smoothie concoctions! Happy Blending! =)

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Strawberry-Peach Smoothie ( with a hint of banana)

5-6 medium to large frozen strawberries
2 frozen peach cubes*
half of a fresh banana
sugar-free juice or water (optional)
honey or Stevia*, to taste (opt)

Add the fruit to a blender and blend on high until smooth. Add juice or water if needed to thin consistency. Add honey or Stevia to taste. Garnish with some fresh strawberry or banana slices. Serve immediately.

Makes: 1-2 3/4 cup servings ( this is approx. I don't usually measure it out, so I'm just guessing on this)

* I got this idea from a friend and it is so helpful when making smoothies with frozen peaches! Simple dice up your fresh peaches into little pieces and pack into a standard ice-cube tray. Freeze until solid, then transfer cubes into a freezer bag. Now you have a bunch of little peach cubes that are perfect for smoothies!

*Stevia is an all-natural sweetener derived from the Stevia leaf. It comes in either powder or liquid form. I use the powder in the smoothies. It is a great sugar substitute for those with diabetes or blood sugar problems that might not be able to have sugar. Make sure to find a high quality Stevia product, or it may be quite bitter.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

There are a lot of variations that you can do to the above smoothie recipe. Substitute your favorite in-season fruits for the strawberries and peaches. Some ideas would be blueberries, raspberries, nectarines, kiwi, mango and the list goes on!

For a more filling smoothie, try adding some unsweetened yogurt ( I buy unsweetened yogurt and make my own vanilla with Stevia and a little bit of vanilla extract. Delicious! A lot less calories and so much better for you!) Whey protein powder, ground flaxseed ( added fiber) etc.

I hope I have inspired you to start making your own smoothies! They are so refreshing on a hot summer day, plus who can resist such a colorful, yummy, and health choice?

Going, Going....

.....almost gone! I am going to try selling my hair accessories locally, so I am discontinuing them in my Etsy shop. I only have five left, so hurry! They are good quality, very affordable, and great for gifts!

Alisha uses some very pretty and vibrant colors in her work, which makes her shop a delight to look through!

Alisha:
I have been around the process of glassblowing my entire life because my father is a glassblower. I fooled around with it here and there, but it never really interested me until I was an adult. I decided to try making glass beads in 2000 and fell in love. I like a challenge and everyday I learn something new. Alisha: My style is classic and elegant. My jewelry reflects my understated, yet colorful and unique personality. All beads used in my jewelry are handmade by me.

The Frosted Button:
What age range do you think enjoys your products the most?

Alisha: I have had customers in every age group, however most of my customers are professionals over 30 who need jewelry they can actually wear too work.

I love the different colors Alisha use
in her jewelry!

The Frosted Button:
What is your favorite thing to make?

Alisha: I am a fan of earrings, so you will see much more of them in my shop than anything else.

The Frosted Button:
Is there anything else you would like to tell my readers about yourself/products?

Alisha: I love what I do and I want everyone to know it. I have sold thousands and thousands of beads to people all over the world and I want my jewelry to travel that far too.

The New Frosted Button

Well, if you read my post on my old Frosted Button blog HERE you know what's going on!
I have exported my old blog to this new format, which I love! I'm planning some fun new posts, plus I am looking forward to my 100th post! I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do, though I definitely want to have some sort of giveaway. Any ideas of what you would like to have me do? Please vote on my sidebar poll, or leave me a comment!
If you would like to submit an item for my giveaway, please drop me a comment on THIS post and I will take a look! I would especially love jewelry or natural skincare products, but it could be anything you have handmade.

Also, I have added comment moderation to this blog because sometimes I miss a comment that you have left until several days or even a week later! So by adding that I will be able to see your comment much more quickly and get back to you if you have a comment.

I think that's all! Hope you all love my new look as much as I do! I was definitely ready for a more polished and professional look, while still keeping the cute charm I wanted in this blog.

Happy reading!

Changes are Coming!

I am so excited about some new changes that will be coming to this blog in the next few weeks! First of all, I am going to do a total blog- revamp to make it look more professional. Then I will be expanding the content to include more than just handmade items. I hope to add more recipes, natural beauty tips and hints ( and recipes for making your own natural skincare for little cost!) and possible some tutorials. If you have any ideas of some other things you might like to see me post about, let me know! I will consider all requests. =)
