Product Review + Giveaway- Lilla Rose

I recently became acquainted with the beautiful hair accessories of Lilla Rose when I won a giveaway for a Flexi-clip. I had never heard of this company before the giveaway, but am so glad to now know about it!
The company offers a large selection of beautiful Flexi-clips, hair sticks, headbands and more, all with the fashionable lady in mind.

I recently contacted the company about doing a giveaway and was thrilled when Paula (an independent consultant) agreed to let me review another one of their clips. I really love the clip I won in the giveaway and find myself reaching for it every time I want to pull my hair back
.
I first chose a size large clip, since I won a medium in the giveaway. Unfortunately, it was a bit too small to accommodate all of my thick, wavy hair. But Paula was very  nice and understanding about it and let me exchange the large for an extra large, which works out very well. Here's the one I chose:
Beautiful, isn't it?
These are not your average cheap hair accessories that fall apart after only a few wearings. They are very strong and can hold up all of my thick wavy hair without a problem.

Overall I am very happy with this clip. It is stylish, yet functional, and something I will continue to wear for many years to come.

Here is just a few of the beautiful hairstyles you can do with a Flexi-clip:

~So Pretty~

You can visit their sizing and styling page to
watch videos on picking out your perfect Flexi-clip
and how to arrange your hair using your new clip.

-Giveaway-
One of my readers will be the lucky winner of their own Flexi-clip!
The winner of this giveaway will get to pick out any flex clip valued up to $15.
What a great prize!

Handmade Friday Feature- RootsSoapCo.

Today's featured shop is RootsSoapCo, an Etsy shop that specializes
in all-natural, handmade soaps.

Sunshine:
When did you first become interested in your craft?

RootsSoapCo:
You could say that I was born into making soap. My mother started making it in the late '70's and sold it at first out of a red wagon at farmers markets. She continued making it throughout my upbringing, and taught me the "art" when I was about 8 years old. I made it for her company and helped sell it at fairs all over Indiana and Ohio until I was 17 years old when I left for college. I didn't consider making soap again until after the birth of my second child. The economy troubles hadn't spared my family and I started to think about ways to supplement our income while still being able to stay at home with my kids. After months of brainstorming (and talking to my older sister who makes soap in Ontario, Canada) I settled on the *novel* idea of starting my own business. So here I am, approximately nine months later with my own soap company!

Sunshine:
What is your favorite thing to make?

RootsSoapCo:
Of all my soaps, I really enjoy making the Bay Clove. I love the spiciness of the clove, and the bay reminds me of my dad's aftershave. I swirl it with yellow french clay, so it is always really exciting to cut into a fresh block and see the design.
Sunshine:
What are your bestsellers?

RootsSoapCo:
Definitely the Lavender Lemongrass and the Single Servings for those who want to try a bit of each.

Sunshine:
What is your favorite scent of soap that you offer?

RootsSoapCo:
Depends on the day! I definitely go for more of the floral scents, so Lavender Lemongrass and Calendula Geranium are usually my favorites. But the Grapefruit Ginger really gets me too.

Sunshine:
What are some tips you would like to share with others who have their own handmade/home business?

RootsSoapCompany:
Be organized! I say that because I think that is the area I need most help in, especially with two little ones who naturally come first in my day. You've got to set time apart in the day for your business.

Sunshine:
Is there anything else you would like to share with my readers about yourself or your craft?

RootsSoapCo:
I love nature and this beautiful earth that we live on, and I really want to instill this love and sense of respect in my children. I integrate this into my soap making as best I can by being dedicated to using only 100% natural ingredients and pure essential oils. The end product is totally biodegradable and incredibly gentle for all skin types from head to toe.

Sunshine:
What are some Etsy shops that inspire you?

RootsSoapCo:
A couple of shops that I can go to again and again and always be blown away are SewnNatural, from Ottawa, Ontario. and the whimsical, child-like art of Hollie. I will always be a child at heart, so the beautiful and simple things that remind of my own childhood really strike a chord with me.

Product Review- Whoopsies!

No, I didn't make a mistake with
this week's Product Review- the company being
reviewed this week is called Whoopsies, and it is home
to some yummy little gourmet whoopie pies!

The owner of Whoopsies gourmet whoopie pies
was very generous and sent me 9 little pies in
the flavor(s) of my choice.
I choose 3 different flavors- Ulta Mint, PB and C and
The Brittany.

Ulta Mint is a mint lovers dream! A fluffy, mint-y,
cream is layered between two delicious chocolate cakes.
The mint flavor is very "real" tasting- not artificial at all.

The PB and C is really good, too.
A creamy, delicious peanut butter filling
is between two chocolate cakes.
Once again, the peanut butter filling was very
real tasting, not like the artificial peanut flavor a lot
of store -bought desserts offer.
The peanut butter filling also had small
pieces of chopped peanuts, adding even more
yummy peanut flavor.

The Brittany consists of rich dark chocolate cream between chocolate cake.
If you love chocolate, then this will probably be your favorite!

All of the cakes are extremely moist and tender, and compliment
the filling very nicely. The filling had a consistency between frosting
and marshmallow creme. Yum!

My family helped me with the review (no, I did not each all 9 cakes myself!!)
My mom and sister both loved the Ulta Mint and PB&C,
and my dad and brother really liked The Brittany and the PB&C.
I loved both the Ulta Mint and the PB&C, so those two flavors
tied as a favorite for me.
My least favorite was The Brittany, as it had a little too
much chocolate flavor for me.

In the company's own words:

"Growing up in the Northeast, we had access to whoopie pies galore. They’re everywhere! But being born with a gourmet sweet tooth, the standard ones just weren’t cutting it for us. So we experimented and tried all kinds of combinations, flavors and anything gourmet we could get our hands on. We threw dinner parties and invited our friends and families to ‘tasting sessions’ where we would (and still do!) hover over them for their initial reaction to our culinary creations. If anyone in the family had a birthday, they’d be inundated with whoopie pies. Office party? You guessed it, whoopie pies. Holiday celebration? Yup, we’d be there with our gourmet whoopie pies. Our pies soon became the talk of the town and thus whoopsies! was born. It became clear that we were meant to introduce the rest of the country to how good whoopie pies can really be."

You can purchase Whoopsie pies either through their Etsy Shop,
or  their web-based business.

The Etsy shop offers the more "classic" flavors
like Ulta Mint, PB&C, and their Classic flavor, which
is chocolate cake and vanilla filling.

The website offers a wider variety of flavors which include
The Brittany, Java Jolt, Cinnamon Toast, The Nut Job, The Pumpkin Patch, and more!
The website offers 13 different flavors, with new flavors being adding all the time.
